Reference:
9 essential principles for good web design

- 7. Alignment
- 8. Clarity (Sharpness)

example web sites:
workflow:
Naming working Files
keep it simple no spaces or funny characters *&^%$#@!():;”‘+=
Come up with a system, so you know what stage you are work on and how to go back if (when) something goes wrong
ap_conceptpage_04c.psd where:
ap=intials (antony pelosi)
coolroom=name of page
04=version of the page, change this when you make a major change to your file
c=sub version of the page, change this when you make minor changers
setup
- setup dreamweaver as per tutorial
size
- the res of the screen 800×600, 1024×768 (the projector), 1600×12000
- think about the other bits on the screen: tool bars, sliders, status bars etc)
I work to a 1024×768 screen so use a 900×650 image in photoshop
workflow
- think about how you what to layout your pages, how can you, try and let your concept drive your webspace
- work in photoshop, using layers and layer styles for rollover states to create your layouts
- sliceup to clickable parts
- save for web to get the html and images (and rollover images)
- open up in dreamweaver to set links and rollover states and name page etc
Naming Files for web
keep it simple no spaces or funny characters *&^%$#@!():;”‘+=
Come up with a system, so you know what stage you are work on and how to go back if (when) something goes wrong
index.html where:
your front page should always be called index.html, so when you got to www.apelosi.com it know to load the index.html page
you can use others names for other pages, eg: photos.html, drawings.html
It is a good idea to keep it simple and clear.
